The Fall Quilt is in progress ... It is inspired by the Pennsylvania Dutch Hex symbols believed to protect those who sleep under them as we go into the All Hallows time of the year. Using a background the color of golden wheat, the hand embroidered patterns represent: oaks of health, tree of life, abundant harvest, child blessings, morning birds, luck of the Irish, life of love, year of fortune, doves of peace, friendship, piety, virtue, contentment, goodwill, and petals of luck. The black and white blocks are quilted whitework on the wheat background. Hopefully, this will all get us safely through the bitter cold times!
