Log Cabin Crazy Quillow

Family members made a Big move not too far before Christmas. After looking at their "new digs" we decided to combine Housewarming and Christmas gifts. A Quillow is a quilt that can be folded into a pillow. Most of the time, they are a regular pillow size enfolding a single-sized quilt. After noting a stack of large pillows on the floor in this home, and the nice big sofa in front of the fireplace, I decided to enlarge the pattern so I could make a nice big quilt. I added buttons on the bottom to keep this larger quillow "tidy." I chose a log cabin pattern variation to honor how these folks began married life by building their own cabin on their own 20 acres, then continued building several more places as they raised their family over the last 30 years. We chose fabric colors to compliment their living room and I embellished each row with crazy quilt embroidery. My husband came up with a brick patio quilting pattern to fit the "do it yourself" theme that seems to fit their lifestyle! Scroll down to see how the Quillow unfolds ...
